  • Plandome’s fiscal year runs from June 1 to May 31. Property taxes are billed in two installments each year:

    • First half due July 1

    • Second half due December 1

Bills are typically mailed in mid-June (for the July installment) and early November (for the December installment). If you don’t receive your bill, please contact Village Hall — non-receipt does not excuse late payment.

  • Water meters are read quarterly. Bills are usually mailed within two weeks of the meter reading, with the following general schedule:

    • January – March: Mailed mid-April, due mid-May

    • April – June: Mailed mid-July, due mid-August

    • July – September: Mailed mid-October, due mid-November

    • October – December:  Mailed mid-January, due mid-February

A 5% penalty will be applied to any unpaid water bill. If still unpaid, the balance will be re-levied on your property taxes.

  • The Village of Plandome and Nassau County use different assessment methods, which often leads to different assessed values for the same property. The Village’s assessments are generally more up-to-date and reflect current market conditions more accurately than the County’s figures.

This difference may impact your property tax calculations, which is why some residents notice that the Village’s assessed value is higher than the County’s.

If you believe your property has been incorrectly assessed, you have the right to file a grievance by submitting Form RP-524: Complaint on Real Property Assessment. Please note, however, that Village staff are not permitted to assist residents in completing or submitting this form.

  • Residents of the Village of Plandome can apply for a parking permit to use the Village LIRR lots.
