In 1911 Plandome became the first incorporated village in the Manhasset, New York area. "Plandome" is a name derived from two latin words, planus and domus, meaning simple home.
Plandome lies on the north shore of Long Island with a portion of the community fronting on beautiful Manhasset Bay. While Plandome is a mostly residential community with a relaxed lifestyle and a hometown atmosphere, the fast-pace of New York City is only 30 minutes away via the LIRR.

ROAD/WATER MAIN PROJECT POWERPOINT SLIDES
June 03, 2014
July 20, 2015
This week, work will begin on the Village’s project to upgrade the water mains on Valley Road and Brookside Drive. This important project will replace the 4” water mains with 8” water mains on these roads, which is necessary to provide sufficient water flow for firefighting. G & M Earth Moving, Inc. will be responsible for the construction work, under the supervision of Sidney B. Bowne & Son, LLP, and with the oversight of Steven Flynn, Highway Foreman, and our highway department.
The work will begin at Valley Road near the intersection of Central Drive and proceed south and east to Brookside Drive, then north on Brookside to Woodland Drive. The construction will have three phases:
1. Digging a trench along the side of the road, laying of the new 8” pipe, and covering the pipe with fill and temporary paving, covering approximately 200 to 300 feet per day;
2. Pressure testing of the new 8” water main and testing the water quality in the installed sections of pipe, with four or five sections in all; and
3. Connecting of the new 8” water mains to the household water supply. This will involve shutting off water to each house for approximately 2-3 hours. We will notify each homeowner by flyer and by e-mail the day before this shut-off occurs, and the construction company will schedule the shut-off between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm when we anticipate water demand will be lowest.
Once the water mains have been installed and all connections to houses completed -- we hope by the end of August, weather permitting -- we will then repave Valley and Brookside and restore them to top-notch condition in September or October.
We apologize in advance for any inconvenience that this will cause residents. By scheduling the water main replacement work during late July and August when many families will be away on vacation, we hope to minimize disruptions. Regardless, please understand that this is project is necessary for the safety and security of our residents, as well as for the quality of our Village’s infrastructure.
ADD YOUR CONTACT INFO TO NORTHSHOREALERT.ORG
July 22, 2011
Recently most of you received a telephone call from Mayor Williams and Port Washington-Manhasset Office of Emergency Management (PWMOEM) Commissioner Peter Forman alerting you to the existence of the NorthShoreAlert.org. This is a communication system Plandome Village has joined, together with other Villages, the Town and other departments. This system will allow us to quickly disseminate both emergency and non-emergency information via a number of different methods. Depending on the nature of the alert, residents can be contacted at their home/business phones, cell phones, and/or by email.
WE URGE ALL RESIDENTS TO GO TO NORTHSHOREALERT.ORG AND REGISTER. Many phone numbers were gathered from public records so you may find that your number(s) is already on file. Go to the website and register your preference as to primary numbers, etc.
